The Maximum temperature for August 2023 varied from 30.4 – 35.1 0C. South East of Suriname experienced the highest maximum temperature of 35.1 0C.
The rainfall map for September 2023 showed that the monthly rainfall varied between 20.3 mm and 63.7 mm. Part of the coast of Suriname has experienced relatively wetter conditions than the other parts of the country. September 2023 was a dry month.
Discussion
El Niño condition will remain in place. High temperatures and heat stress will prevail during the season. Drought is evolving and a short-term drought will manifest by the end of December 2023. Rainfall is expected to be below normal. However, flood potential is still present in December.
